Capacity fading in lithium ion battery

Formation of the solid electrolyte interface at the graphite electrode results in capacity loss in a lithium ion battery. The makeup of the solid electrolyte interface has been studied in [Vallabha Rao Rikka et al., In situ/exsitu Investigations on the Formation of the MosaicSolid-Electrolyte Interface Layer on Graphite Anode for Lithium-Ion Batteries The Journal of Physical Chemistry Part C 122, 50, 28717-28726 (2018)].

A nanothermodynamic model for prediciting elemental distribution

A generalized nano-thermodynamic model has been constructed that can rapidly predict the elemental distribution in multi-metal alloy nanoparticles as a function of the particle size, shape, composition and temperature. The model can be used with studies on catalytic activity of such nanoparticles [S Divi, A Chatterjee, Generalized nano-thermodynamic model for capturing size-dependent surface segregation in multi-metal alloy nanoparticles, RSC Advances 8, 10409].
